Friggin' Love...

these shoes.

yesterday i had to miss school for a doctor's visit, which was a major bummer because i happen to be one of those crazies who LOVE their job. so, i treated myself to a lil' thrifting to make myself feel better, post doc. i am so happy i did because i found these vintage dainties, along with a leather belt (psst: i am one of those lazy/impatient people who enjoy buying things already "broken in" for me...like leather belts) at the goodwill in bryant. can i just say how comfy they are? no lie. i have been prancing around school today. they are this gorgeous periwinkle leather and by a company named Paradise Kittens. tehehe. what a cute name, eh?  (bee.tee.dub, they aren't different hued as depicted in the photo, just the illusion made by iPhone apps)

hope you are enjoying your friday!

breaking up is hard to do

i love winter. it has always been my favorite season to dress for. i love layers and coats. more clothes, more fun (in my mind). however, i don't know about any of you guys, but i have spring fever in the worst way. just this little bit of sunshine and warmth has made me want more; i just hope spring isn't being coy and leading me on.

Best Friend and i went to pine bluff for a day of shooting in an old warehouse. ok. so, we aren't models, but we sure had such a blast pretending. there was so much to work with in this place, and every room had different textures and colors. i decided to bring some of my favorite fall/winter pieces for a "goodbye, we are breaking up" shoot.

Photos 1 and 2: black dress, Old Navy; coat, Knitted Dove; leather clogs Seychelles
Photos 3 and 4: black skinny pants, Old Navy; wrap, streets of NYC; brown leather booties, thrift store purchase.
Next : floral sports jacket, a thrift store purchase; boots, Chinese Laundry; leather belt, Target.
Next: peacock pashmina, a gift from Egypt. black belt, secondhand
Finally: white embroidered dress, thrift store purchase; pink cardigan, Target; tights, H&M; leather jacket, thrift store purchase; Tony Lama cowboy boots, thrift store purchase.

hiya, spring.

On me: brown leather bag, a gift; floral dress, Target (duh!); black skinny pants, Old Navy: Calvin Klein leather clogs, a purchase from Plato's Closet

hope you've had a great weekend and that you are breaking up with winter, too.

even though i love color...

i just felt like being muted today. i don't know if it was because of the gray morning or the fact that i am actually sad to see winter go. (shhh..don't tell anyone. however, i can most assuredly tell you i shall put on my DANCING SHOES when spring has officially sprung)

anyway, some friends and acquaintances have asked me to start a blog focusing on fashion. well, peeps. here's to my first blog post. (cheers!)

(pardon the grainy iPhoneness of the photographs. the 5d is waiting on her batteries to get charged)
i am wearing:
black long-sleeved Hanes crew. an ochre scarf from Old Navy. khaki green trouser paints from Old Navy. black woven belt from Target. black leather Seychelles clogs courtesy of Urban Outfitters

i really love this outfit. it is super comfy and though muted, has tons of personality. being a teacher, i am always looking for comfort. i know those heels may not look it, but they are super functional: take it from a teacher who donned them for 8 hours today. the sad part is, i added about 4 inches to my 5'2" frame and many of my students were still taller than me. plus, i love them because i purchased them for $39.99 instead of their regular $129.99. ka-ching. however, those clogs are not my favorite part of the outfit: it is my scarf! i wrapped my scarf like a shawl so it could function as a completely different piece. i wore it about 3 different ways today, but this one was my favorite, not to mention that adding that black belt to cinch it together did this curvy girl's body some good.

that is all for now. i am readying for a evening out with friends. tomorrow Best Friend and i are going to have a fun photoshooting palooza in honor of cameras, good weather, and the long weekend.
have fun this weekend and try to do something self-indulgent. :)

love,
lady
